The 2026 OpenSSL Foundation Advisory Committee nomination and election has begun!

  • If you haven't already, join a community. This is required in order to nominate someone or to vote in the election. It also opens the door to discussions about OpenSSL governance.
  • During August, nominate yourself or someone else using the instructions in this guide.
  • After the nominees are announced, the election will take place in the first two weeks of September.

As we previously announced, the Foundation is merging its advisory committees. Representatives will serve two-year terms, meaning the cohort elected this September will serve through September 2028. Please review the election timeline for additional details.

Community and open governance are core to OpenSSL's mission and the Foundation's Advisory Committees have been key to keeping us connected. If you want to help us ensure everyone has access to privacy tools and secure networks, representing your community is a great way to be involved.

We believe everyone should have access to security and privacy tools.
